They asked contestants to write a review of the book on either Amazon.com, BarnesandNoble.com, or Goodreads.com for a chance to win a cash prize plus a signed copy of the book. The following winners have been chosen by the publisher:

First Prize of $100: Anna-Lisa Drew

Third Prize of $50: Sean Geiger

Here is what the reviewers had to say:

Anna-Lisa Drew
"Reading this book feels like a homecoming for me. The chapters cover every aspect of living from a Taoist perspective from money and relationships to the growth of your soul. I find myself lingering over chapters to soak up every word and meaning from them. The opening brought tears to my eyes it was so touching. I really felt the heart of the author through these pages and it awakens a longing in my own heart to live as one with the Tao. I urge anyone who is interested in growing their self from a caterpillar to a butterfly to read this book. I feel like I am flying with the realisations, both beautiful and challenging, that it brings. I am so grateful to have read this book."

Heather Preisig
"I've read many books by this Author. I particularly love this one. It's very easy to read and a great and concise guide. My Nanny passed away recently and I found this book was such a great source of wisdom and I could be much brighter about her passing and I feel a greater understanding about why we are here. I appreciate the way in which this book spoke to my heart. I read if before bed and it helps me sleep well."

Sean Geiger

Thanks to his teaching in this book and others I have found the meaning in my life I have been searching for for over 30 years. He shows us ways to improve your physical, spiritual, and emotional lives. My life now has meaning and direction. If you are like me, read this book and his others. Be well!"

Best Life Media has expressed their appreciation for everyone who wrote a review of Living Tao and hopes many more people will be touched by Ilchi Lee's book.

Living Tao is the most comprehensive book to date on the universal principles behind the self-development practices that Ilchi Lee has developed over the last thirty-five years. These practices include Brain Education and its specific expressions of Body & Brain Yoga and Tai Chi and the Solar Body Method. It was written for the layman in mind, using a language readily understandable to the novice seeker, yet containing wisdom that will enlighten even the most experienced.

Foreword Reviews, a media company devoted to reviewing books from small, independent publishers and university presses, announced the finalists for its 18th annual INDIEFAB Book of the Year Awards on Monday, March 7, 2016. Living Tao: Timeless Principles for Everyday Enlightenment by Ilchi Lee (Best Life Media, December 2015) numbered among the finalists in the Body, Mind & Spirit category. Ilchi Lee said he felt so grateful and happy about sharing Tao with many people through this opportunity.

Each year, Foreword Reviews shines a light on a select group of indie publishers, university presses, and self-published authors whose work stands out from the crowd. “The 2015 INDIEFAB finalist selection process is as inspiring as it is rigorous,” said Victoria Sutherland, publisher of Foreword Reviews. “The strength of this list of finalists is further proof that small, independent publishers are taking their rightful place as the new driving force of the entire publishing industry.”

In the next three months, a panel of more than 130 volunteer librarians and booksellers will determine the winners in 66 categories based on their experience with readers and patrons. Foreword Reviews will celebrate the winners during a program at the American Library Association Annual Conference in Orlando, Florida in June. They will also name the Editor’s Choice Prize 2015 for Fiction, Nonfiction and Foreword Reviews’ 2015 INDIEFAB Publisher of the Year Award during the presentation.

Living Tao is Ilchi Lee's thirty-eighth book and distills the principles he has spoken and written about for decades into their essence. The simple wisdom it contains about life, death, and everything in between has been called "thoughtful, easy to follow," by Ray Simmons for Readers’ Favorite. It "lays out the principles of Tao in a practical way that everyone can grasp and begin to apply to their daily life," he says. Readers have written that Living Tao has given them comfort and clarity during troubled times.

The Power Brain is a comprehensive guide to Ilchi Lee's Brain Education philosophy and methods, which he has been developing over the past thirty-five years to help people live happier, healthier, and more peaceful lives by maximizing their brain's potential. The methods within it not only help you improve focus, memory, emotional balance, and stress management, they also help you discover your value, recreate the story of your life, and claim a new destiny.

Last Saturday, April 9, 2016, the Sedona Meditation Center and ChangeYourEnergy.com hosted the Unleash Your Power Brain workshop with Ilchi Lee and Dave Beal at the Sedona Creative Life Center in Sedona, Arizona. The workshop launched Ilchi Lee's new book, The Power Brain: Five Steps to Upgrading Your Brain Operating System.

This book is his latest, and most comprehensive, on his Brain Education self-development method. It includes both the principles behind using your brain to its full potential, as well as illustrated brain-body exercises that integrate the various parts of the brain and fortify existing neural connections while making new ones.

The 250 people who attended filled the seats, stood at the back, and overflowed into the room outside. It was a workshop in which, as one participant said, "Normally you come and you sit, and you're by yourself, learning for yourself. And here, you come and interact with everyone, and you're learning as a community. And you learn about being a community by learning as a community."

In his talk on “Five Steps to a Power Brain,” Dave Beal led the audience in exercises to experience the five steps of Brain Education. The participants found themselves playing games, laughing and smiling, feeling empowered, and meeting new people.

Ilchi Lee kept the laughter going in his talk on “How to Upgrade Your Brain Operating System.” He injected humor while he differentiated between the natural intelligence of the human brain and the artificial intelligence of robots by pointing out that humans have the ability to both empathize with others and communicate our emotions and awareness. The scope of his talk ranged from the individual brain to the collective consciousness of humanity. He said each human being is intrinsically valuable and has the ability and responsibility to take care of the planet.

Workshop participants came from in and around Sedona, as well as the Phoenix metropolitan area and as far away as Hawaii. The event was also broadcast live on Ilchi Lee’s Facebook page

A copy of The Power Brain was given to each participant. The book will be released in stores on April 15th, but can be bought now on ChangeYourEnergy.com.

Dave Beal is the Program Director and Head National Trainer of Power Brain Education. They have introduced Brain Education to 400 schools around the United States, training 10,000 teachers and 30,000 students over the past eight years.

Brain Education is also being taught in more than 600 Body & Brain Yoga centers in 10 countries, as well as in health clubs, community centers, and large corporations. It is used by athletes, actors, doctors, and even by the United Nations.

To train people in Brain Education, Ilchi Lee has established the International Brain Education Association, two universities that study and teach Brain Education, and the Benjamin School for Character Education—an alternative one-year high school program that uses Brain Education to help youth find their confidence, solidify their values, and discover their dreams. He's also established the Korea Institute of Brain Science to pursue further research on Brain Education, and the Earth Citizens Organization to train leaders who use Brain Education to empower their communities to live in harmony with the earth.

Those who want further experience in Brain Education can join a three-day, two-night retreat in June at Sedona Mago Retreat with Dave Beal and Ilchibuko Todd. More information can be found at the Sedona Meditation Center, (928) 282-3600. They can also find a Body & Brain Yoga and Tai Chi center on bodynbrain.com, or study it online through ChangeYourEnergy.com.

July 2016 will herald the release of Ilchi Lee's newest book, Belly Button Healing: Unlocking the Second Brain for a Healthy Life, published by Best Life Media. This succinct paperback solidifies in writing Mr. Lee's latest natural health offering to anyone who wants more vitality, compassion, and connection. Belly Button Healing has a whole host of benefits, the book explains, ranging from better immunity, to pain relief, improved range of motion, relief from constipation, better blood and lymph circulation, and more.

In his ongoing quest to uncover simpler and easier ways to gain total health and inspire people to value themselves and show compassion for others, Ilchi Lee has explained the power of the belly button. What may seem like only a birth scar, Mr. Lee says, is actually a point that connects to major organs, blood vessels, lymph nodes, and even energy channels. By pressing into the belly button gently, you can feel points of tension that may be restricting your movement, circulation, or digestion. Massaging these points removes the acute restriction, while at the same time, relaxes the body and calms the mind--the most beneficial state for rest and repair.

Besides these effects, Belly Button Healing improves mood, purportedly by stimulating the release of "happy hormones" such as serotonin and dopamine, which are produced in abundance in the gut. It also creates a better environment for healthy gut microbes to thrive in the intestines. These microscopic organisms have a symbiotic relationship with the human body. While they make their home in the gut, they provide a healthier intestinal wall, better immunity, and more release of these happy hormones, especially serotonin.

Along with the book, Ilchi Lee has designed a Belly Button Healing Wand called Healing Life. The name reflects Mr. Lee's belief that Belly Button Healing is an integral part of a healthy lifestyle. Healthy individuals, thinks Mr. Lee, create healthy communities that can ultimately heal all life. The tool is ergonimically designed so that most people can perform Belly Button Healing more consistently and efficiently. Ilchi Lee carved the prototype for the wand himself from the healing bark of a hwangchil tree after seeing a vision of what it should look like.

The Belly Button Healing book is being sold alone at major booksellers, or with the Belly Button Healing Kit, which also includes the Healing Life wand and the Belly Button Healing online course on ChangeYourEnergy.com. The kits are being sold at ChangeYourEnergy.com and at Body & Brain Yoga and Tai Chi Centers throughout the United States. Healing Life itself is also being sold at any location that teaches Ilchi Lee's methods around the world. In-person instruction in Belly Button Healing is also available at these locations.

Earth Management by Ilchi Lee and Dr. Emanuel PastreichIlchi Lee will add another book to the list of one's he's authored with Earth Management: A Dialogue on Ancient Korean Wisdom and Its Lessons for a New Earth. What's different about this book, which will be released officially by publisher Best Life Media on September 20, 2016, is that it contains a dialogue between Lee and Dr. Emanuel Pastreich, an associate professor at the College of International Studies at Kyung Hee University who has trained at Harvard University and Yale University.

Dr. Pastreich's specialty is classic Asian culture, and through his studies, he has noted the traditional Korean concept of Hongik. Meaning to benefit others, the whole, as well as yourself, Hongik is proposed by the two authors as an answer to the world's problems of war, economic disparity, imbalanced food distribution, and global warming—problems that cause both authors concern.

By delving into the original philosophical traditions of Korea, Ilchi Lee and Emanuel Pastreich seek to give readers hope that the world's problems are not insurmountable. To overcome them, they say, however, each person's consciousness and choices are very important. Changing the tragic trajectory humanity is currently on can only come from the work of individuals, not from nations and institutions. Culture, values, and lifestyles much change first before Earth's issues can be managed.

People ready for change, who like books like Eckhart Tolle's A New Earth, or who just want to learn something new and unique will be able to get the book next month in either paperback or ebook format from major booksellers online and offline.

Ilchi Lee’s book, Bird of the Soul, an illustrated storybook for all ages, has slowly been spreading hope wherever it goes. Through the Bird of the Soul Book Drive hosted by the non-profit Body & Brain Yoga Foundation and sponsored by the publisher, Best Life Media, the book has put smiles on the faces of people in community centers, prisons, camps, senior centers, women’s shelters, and more.

The book has grown beyond its printed format to a full animation. Originally produced in South Korea and then dubbed in English, “Bird of the Soul Animated Storybook” brings the story and spirit of the book to life with movement and song.

The animation is free to view here or on YouTube, or you can download the file from the ChangeYourEnergy.com Movie section.

We hope the story and songs warm your heart!

Nov 2017

In the beginning of our lives, we learn many things to grow into capable adults who are successful in their careers and their social lives. We're very busy with this kind of self-development. But what happens when our careers have ended and our children have left home? On what should we base the last years of our lives? How should we develop ourselves?

I think self-development doesn't end when we reach a particular age. If we give our lives a purpose and meaning, self-development becomes an important part of life regardless of our age. I think the grander purpose or goal we should all strive for in our development is completion. By completion, I'm referring to the completion of our lives and of our soul's wishes. It is heartfelt satisfaction and fulfillment in the final moments of our lives, when we know that we have realized our highest values and we feel that we can leave this life in peace without regret.

When I've asked people what their wishes were, I've been given many answers. If you take a step back and look at all of them, you’ll notice the commonalities of wanting the feeling of loving and being loved, of their lives being precious and valuable, of living freely and independently, and of contributing to something larger than themselves. While the first half of our lives necessarily needs to be focused on material success, I think the second half can be devoted to these less tangible, more precious values.

How can we make these values manifest and achieve completion? Another word for completion is wholeness; it's becoming whole. People are always seeking wholeness, actually. They may look for it by connecting with other people and having a sense of belonging, or they may become well-rounded intellectually through education. While these are important, the wholeness I am speaking of comes from connecting to the divine, the Source of the cosmos, and feeling unity with it. From this connection, we feel unconditional love and value, and we want to share that with others. So to complete our lives, we need to develop habits that allow us to establish, maintain, and strengthen that connection. Then we need to be of service to others and make choices that benefit the whole in addition to ourselves—what in Korean is called Hongik.

This process, depending on our starting point, can involve a complete transformation, like that of a caterpillar becoming a butterfly. We need to change everything on the inside to the deepest part, as well as changing everything on the outside, so that it is in alignment with our highest values and life purpose.

The Brain Education methods I’ve developed and teach are designed to tap into that deepest part of ourselves and then connect to cosmic energy and cosmic consciousness. They can easily be shared with others to benefit them and help them transform their lives. Three simple exercises for completion that I write about in detail in my new book, I've Decided to Live 120 Years: The Ancient Secret to Longevity, Vitality, and Life Transformation, are Longevity Walking, Belly Button Healing, and One-Minute Exercise. These exercises bring connection and completion into our ordinary, daily lives. They make self-development and growth a habit and give us a constitution that allows us to do the things that give us the most joy and satisfaction.

Continuous self-development and living with purpose can be a part of our lives at any age, but when we reach our later years, we have more time and attention to devote to them. That’s why I believe the second half of our lives, the last sixty if you live to 120, is our chance to ensure we complete our lives with satisfaction and joy.

I write more about how to live a complete and whole life and what that means for our current times in I’ve Decided to Live 120 Years.
