Mu Jin Bon
This next phrase of the Chun Bu Kyung reminds us of what it means to put everything into what we’re doing.
The character Jin (盡) literally means depletion, running out, or using up. But when we look more closely, we see it’s about gathering energy as one. It means to gather energy together, take care of it, and then use it for one goal. Jin signifies genuinely giving our all for our true heart.
As we deplete our energy for our goal, we burn up any impurities we have inside—anything that is not our true nature. By doing that we are left with nothing (Mu, 無). But this nothing, or nothingness, is actually something in the sense that it is in the state of nothingness that we can finally perceive our true nature, which is the One inside us. It’s how we go back to the Source, or Bon (本). This process is how we train our energy and our mind so that our mind is enlightened and our true nature is illuminated.
To achieve this state, we need a dedicated heart and a focused mind. When our mind has one focus, cosmic energy, which I call chunjikiun (天地氣運), fills our body and keeps it on our chosen path. An unmoving mind (不動心) is the foundation holding together the pillar of chunjikiun that runs through the center of our body from top to bottom. It is a mind like an iron bar (鐵杖). With our mind rooted in the Source, we can create anything from that Source, which by nature is inexhaustible.
Has there been a time when you’ve put everything into what you were doing? If so, what happened? What was your experience?

Once I put my all into something, I usually feel a sense of oneness and then I find understanding people surrounds me. I feel from my mind that harmony is close at hand and I feel so much joy at that time. I usually smile much more and feel lighter and brighter with my physical body.
I have never understood vision better. What a blessing it is.
I will use my energy with different mind now. Thank you!
Thank you! This is a great meditation for today. Giving all for the most important thing is a beautiful thing.
I also think of Mu Jin Bon as “never depleting the essence” even when we use up 100%, theres always the Bon, essence left over.
Mu. Jin. Bon.
That is what I need to focus. I push myself to burn out my stubborn ego and impurities of body and mind. Then I get closer to the origin of the universe. Thanks reminding me that.
I doubt that I have ever truly put everything into anything. I am sure what I think is everything is really just an illusion of my ego self. However, I do experience peace, lightness and joy when I focus on the moment with all my mind and body. I feel eager to go on with no sense of burden or duty, just ease, freedom, happiness and calm; a sense of untiring potential.
I think Dahn Yoga is the closest I’ve come to putting my all into something. There are times I get lost and my work ethic takes a dip. But Hope pulls me forward. And once I complete a task, I feel I can take on more. A chain starts forming, linking each project together. And what was once difficult, then becomes doable, and soon, easy.
