How to Find Your Healing Points

Ilchi Lee - find your healing points

Focused continually outside of ourselves—on our jobs, our families, the endless stream of information and entertainment—we often live without realizing our bodies are ill. We gradually accumulate aches and pains, toxins, clogged arteries, fatigue, and more, unaware of them until they are severe enough to keep us from being active.

Taking some quiet time every day to focus inside of ourselves gives our brains a chance to take stock of what’s going on inside our bodies, minds, and emotions. Actually, our brains can do more than take stock. With the help of our bodies themselves, and the life energy that runs through them, our brains can actually be an agent of healing.

When we move, tap, press, or vibrate our bodies mindfully, our brains discover the areas that need help. They realize where we have points of tension, pain, or blocked energy flow. At the same time, moving, vibrating, and pressing our bodies releases the tension, pain, and blockage, facilitating true healing.

Everything is connected with these points—emotional and spiritual issues as well as physical diseases. By finding points that need healing, we can address any issue. I developed a method I call Brain Education Healing Point (BHP) to help find and activate healing points.

BHP Method 1: Let Your Body Talk

Sit with your body relaxed and comfortable. At first, do this with your eyes open. Raise your hands to chest height with your palms facing away from your body.

Now, open your hands completely, stretching and really extending your ten fingers. Flex and stretch your palms and fingers outward so much that your wrists bend backward. Your lower back also extends and straightens naturally at the same time and your shoulders and neck start to relax.

Then, slowly relax your hands completely. Stretch and relax again two to three times.

Next, continuing to relax your fingers, close your eyes and concentrate on your hands. Your fingers slowly curl up, as if your hands are closing gently around eggs. Your wrists rotate naturally as your fingers continue to curl. The feeling grows if you keep concentrating on your body. You’ll get different feelings as your wrists go around. Continue to watch your body as you do this.

Now your neck turns, and your shoulders rotate, too. Focus, telling yourself, “You’re doing well. You’re doing real well.” Observe the changes in your body, continuing to focus. Energy starts circulating in your body. Your feeling of your body deepens.

The movements you need now for healing come out of you all on their own. Your body moves as it wants as you continue to focus within. You may find yourself yawning, your legs straightening, or your lower back curling up.

Soon, your body and your brain start to say, “Move here. Move like this.” Do as they tell you. Just do it. If your body wants to vibrate, then vibrate; if your body wants to twist, then let it twist. The postures you need start to manifest and continue manifesting. Shoulders rotate for those with stiff shoulders. Hips relax for those with stiff hips. Cough if you feel like coughing. Tears, mucus, coughing, sound, sweat . . . all the motions and phenomena that happen are forms of healing. Do them actively, with confidence.

There is something that’s crucial when you do BHP training. You have to focus completely the entire time, setting aside all of your preconceptions.

Change never happens if you do as you’ve always done. It doesn’t work if you get trapped by convention when some funny or embarrassing movement manifests. Do whatever you feel like doing, no matter what movements your body makes. Only then will your brain open up enough to see your underlying, even subconscious issues.

In that process, your hidden form appears; you discover a new self. Who knows how much your energy has been suppressed as you’ve worried so much about what others thought of you? Only if you do this actively will change really happen.

Move freely like this for 5 to 10 minutes. Then slowly stop moving. Inhale and exhale.

Straighten your spine so that the top of your head and the base of your tailbone align. Watch your body, seeing what condition it’s in now. Feel whether your bones are properly aligned, whether your heart and lungs are working properly. How are your stomach, liver, and intestines? Are your hips okay? What about your knees? Are your energy and blood circulating well? Feel these things honestly.

As you feel your body, you may experience autonomous vibration in the places where you feel some imbalance or lack. This is energy moving and healing occurring. Relax and focus on your body, exhaling through your mouth, until any vibration you feel stops.

BHP Method 2: Press Points of Connection

In this relaxed and aware state, you can also find your healing points in a more systematic way. This second BHP method can be used anywhere, even without doing the method above, but always with concentration on your body.

It is a type of reflexology that involves your fingers, toes, or head in which you access all parts of your body, especially your major organs, via the energy channels, or meridians, that run throughout your body.

One of the easiest ways to do this method is to find the points on your hands, just below your fingernail cuticles.

Start by pressing the fingers of your non-dominant hand with the tip of the thumbnail of your dominant hand. Press hard enough with your thumbnail so that it leaves an impression.

Pressing in this way, find the spots that hurt the most. You can classify your sensation into five pain levels: SS, S, A, B, and C. If pressing only leaves an impression, you can classify a spot as level B or C, which are normal and not in need of healing. Beginning next with level A, though, you’ll feel some pain. Pain indicates a healing point. Level SS or S points are very painful, with SS being the most painful.

It’s important to find the S and SS level points. When you press those points with your fingernail, it hurts like you’re being stabbed, your body really heats up, and, in severe cases, you even tear up.

After you find a painful point, gently massage it with your thumb for about one minute. Once you’ve massaged all of the healing points on one hand, test the points on your other hand as well.

If you’ve found the points on your hands, you can also try pressing different parts of your head with your fingernail to find healing points there. Close your eyes to focus within, and massage the painful places for about one minute, really observing what changes happen in your body.

When the healing points stop hurting, the healing process is complete. However, you may need to massage the points more than one time in order for the pain to go away completely. When you’ve done BHP several times, you’ll see a 50 percent improvement in your health. Keep at it, and your health will improve more. If your health isn’t 100 percent, keep finding and massaging healing points until they are completely free of pain.

It’s Not Only Relaxing

Many people are finding their healing points to recover health for themselves: people suffering with a slipped disc for five or 10 years, people with Parkinson’s disease, people suffering from headaches or insomnia. But physical recovery aren’t the only effects of BHP.

If you regularly use the BHP method, there may be times when you see the face of someone you hadn’t been thinking about before, or stories from long ago may come to mind. As this happens, bad memories from the past are purified. Living a busy life, you sometimes have misunderstandings and troubles because of faulty information or memories. They are released through BHP as the tangled knot of thoughts in your head rises to the surface.

As your physical and emotional hurts are healed, your spiritual problems are also resolved and your consciousness grows brighter and more positive. Students and scholars may find unresolved areas of their research suddenly clearing up and artists and creatives may come up with new ideas. Your intuition and other spiritual capabilities can develop and strengthen. Even your self-worth, willpower, and confidence can grow.

Using BHP daily prevents illnesses of any kind from sneaking up on you and gives you a leg up on any kind of personal development as you deepen and strengthen your inner awareness. Though at first you may use BHP on yourself, later you can also help others find their healing points and make it a common-sense part of daily self-care.
