Awakening to our connection with nature and the purpose of our lives.
Recently, I’ve been thinking and speaking again about the birth of a new humanity. This is a vision I’ve held for many years, and one that I believe is becoming increasingly important for the future of our Earth.
When I speak of a new humanity, I don’t mean that we need to become physically different from who we are today. I mean that we need a new consciousness, one that recognizes the value of all life and understands that we are connected to one another and to the Earth.
This change begins with how we see ourselves and the world around us. We often experience life as separate individuals, each occupied with our own concerns, responsibilities, and desires. We may appreciate the beauty of nature, but still feel apart from it, simply observing it.
Yet our bodies are part of nature. The air we breathe, the water we drink, and the energy that sustains our lives all come from the Earth. We are not separate from the great flow of life.
When we quiet our thoughts and open our hearts, we may begin to feel this connection more deeply. The wind, the clouds, the birds, and the rivers are no longer just things outside us. We begin to recognize the same life flowing through them and through ourselves.
And as our awareness grows, something else begins to awaken: a deeper understanding of our own value and why we are here.
I recently expressed these feelings in a song called “Song of the New Humanity.” I’d like to share it with you.
Song of the New Humanity
Listen to the original song in Korean, sung by Ilchi Lee.
The wind blows.
Flowers bloom.
Even the clouds sing, and so does heaven.
Will I ever hear the song of the wind?
Now, the song of the wind is reaching me.
The song of the clouds, the song of the birds, awakens my soul.
Now, little by little,
I am beginning to realize that everything in the world is one.
I want to share my song, my love, with everyone.
The drifting clouds, the flowing river, I now know that they are me.
Now, little by little,
I am beginning to understand my worth, and why I came to this Earth.
The wind blows. The wind sings.
The birds call. The birds sing.
The sound of the Earth singing,
the sound of nature is reaching me.

The new humanity I envision begins with this awakening. As we recognize that we belong to something greater than ourselves, our understanding of what it means to live a meaningful life begins to change.
Our happiness no longer needs to come only from what we achieve or possess. We can also find joy in caring for others, protecting life, and contributing something good to the world.
This is not merely an idea to understand with our minds. We can experience and express it through our daily choices.
When we treat another person with kindness, care for a living thing, or make a choice that benefits the Earth, we express this awareness of connection.
I hope this song inspires you to listen more deeply to the life around you and within you. Perhaps, in the sound of the wind or the singing of a bird, you will hear something that reminds you of your own precious existence.
A new humanity is not something we have to wait for. Its beginnings are already within us.
